The useful thing about a personal site is not that it competes with every other place you could publish.
It is that it remains yours.
You can keep the typography plain, the archive legible, the feeds open, and the machinery small enough to understand. You can link outward generously because the work has a home to return to.

That is enough infrastructure for a durable writing practice.
