U. S. Steel

Evolving a reporting system across three years

Across U. S. Steel’s 2022, 2023, and 2024 sustainability reports, I developed and evolved a flexible editorial system for a complex industrial story. The work connected strategy, operations, environmental performance, innovation, people, governance, and disclosures through strong section architecture, integrated data visualization, and a more purposeful relationship between photography and information.

Compared with the 2021 report, the redesign replaced a more constrained, template-led system with clearer hierarchy, bolder pacing, and more varied editorial structures. Each year built on the last: 2022 established the visual foundation, 2023 proved it could support a substantially larger body of content, and 2024 opened the system further with brighter color, modular composition, larger typography, and a more human voice.
